Fast bowler Mohammad Amir, legspinner Shadab Khan and wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan returned to the Pakistan Test squad for the tour of South Africa. The first of three matches in the series begins on December 26.

Pakistan go into the series with a couple of injury worries – Mohammad Abbas missed the final Test against New Zealand this week due to a shoulder injury, but he is expected to be fit in time for the Boxing Day Test. Fakhar Zaman is under a cloud after a knee injury he sustained in October but he is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and it is expected that he too will recover in time to play all three games.
